About Kate
Kate started her career as a Speech Pathologist in 1992 after completing a Bachelor of Applied Science (Speech Pathology) at Sydney University. Initially, she worked with the Central Coast Area Health Service providing speech and language assessment and intervention to children. In 1995, Kate joined a Private Practice in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs providing speech, language, and literacy services to children and adolescents. During this time, Kate developed a passion for supporting children and adolescents with reading and spelling difficulties. Kate pursued further education in this field initially by undertaking training in the Lindamood-Bell Program and then completing a Masters in Applied Linguistics (Literacy) at Macquarie University between 1997-2000.
Kate has operated her own private practice on the Northern Beaches since 2000. Kate is committed to ongoing professional development and the use of best practice evidence-based literacy and language intervention to support children and adolescents who find learning challenging to develop skills enabling them to realise their potential.
Kate co-chaired the Northern Beaches Private Practice Network during 2013. This network supports the Professional Development of Speech Pathologists by hosting regular meetings, usually with guest speakers and coordinating communication between state and national Speech Pathology associations. Kate also spent 8 years on the board of a local independent Primary school between 2008 and 2018 and was Chairperson of the Board of Directors for 7 of these years.
